Gilgâl — Gilgal — “Circle”; first Israelite encampment after crossing the Jordan (Joshua 4–5)

Deuteronomy 11:30 — “Both are on the other side of the Jordan, beyond the west road that is in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the Arabah—near Gilgal, by the terebinths of Moreh.”

Joshua 4:19 — “The people came up from the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho.”

Joshua 4:20 — “And Joshua set up in Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken from the Jordan.”

Joshua 5:9 — “And GOD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away from you the disgrace of Egypt.” So that place was called Gilgal, as it still is.”

Joshua 5:10 — “Encamped at Gilgal, in the steppes of Jericho, the Israelites offered the passover sacrifice on the fourteenth day of the month, toward evening.”
